Baby Update

Here is one of the only pictures of him with his eyes open, don't mind the stickers on his face, they were there to keep the oxygen tube in place.

We were able to have him in our room with us for just a little while before they took him
back to his monitors, IVs and oxygen.

I'm so glad Mike was on top of things and got pictures posted of Adam so quickly! I know everyone has been concerned about he and I after all the crazyness, so I though it would be a good idea to post an update and fill you all in on how the last few days have been for us. First of all, we were shocked that he made it to 38 weeks, that's 2 weeks (and 2 pounds) more than Alex and Wes!

Friday night I checked in to the hospital and BARELY got the epidural before Adam arrived, it hadn't even fully taken effect yet (I would NOT reccommend doing it this way). Adam was born at 2:43 am, within 2 hours of me checking in to the hospital! The cord had been wrapped around his neck, causing a severe drop in blood pressure and heart rate. He also was having major breating problems, so they whisked him off to the nursery to stabalize him. He started to do a little better and the nurse braught him in to eat, but shortly after he started having trouble breathing again. So, he spent a few days in the NICU. While all of this was happening with Adam, I was also hemmoraging and having problems of my own. It was quite intense for a few days. But now, both of us are doing quite well. They weaned Adam off the IV fluids and he was able to start nursing again (he is a VERY good eater) and gradually decreased his oxygen until he was breathing on his own. While he was struggeling with other issues, he developed jaundice, so he's been in the billy bed as well, which makes him very sleepy. They finally let us go home last night, but we had to be back in first thing this morning to run more tests and make sure everything was still going well. So, I am happy to report that everything is doing wonderfully! We just go Adam's test results back and we can take him off the billy bed, his breating has stabalized and he is doing very well! Now we just wish he would go longer than 90 minutes beteween feedings!
Now that he's home his brothers can hardly stand the excitement! They both want to hold him and feed him and play with him all the time. They are such great big brothers and LOVE to help with anything for baby Adam!

Dad, holding Adam in the NICU, the nurses were AMAZING!

Oh my goodness, I had no idea all that was going on. I'm so sorry you had all that to contend with but so glad it's behind you now. It sounds as if everyone is on the mend and life can get back to some kind of normal. (Whatever normal is)

Things can't just be easy can they? I'm glad things are okay now. Sorry, we have been kind of out of it too. Lucie broke her arm and you know how it is. Well, Adam looks just like Alex. He is adorable. Good name, by the way. :)
